8/26/2020  · Since 1968, this 1939 MG VA Tickford Drophead coupe has been owned by a single family based on the West Coast, and now this pre-war British car is looking for a new home through the upcoming Lucky Collector Car Auctions.As we’ve come to love from vintage MGs, the Tickford Drophead coupe is a two-door roadster with seating for four, and these cars were built in very limited.


The MG VA (or 1.5 Litre) was only produced for 2.5 years, from Feb 1937 to September 1939, and was understudy to the larger-engined, six cylinder, SA and WA models. Three versions were offered, a saloon, a tourer, and the Tickfords-bodied drophead coupe , as shown above.

MG VA sedan bodies were manufactured in house by Morris, while the Tickford drophead coupe bodies were coachbuilt by Salmons & Sons. This example features a replacement beige canvas soft top that can be arranged in three positions: fully closed, fully open, or half-open with a canopy over the rear seats and open air above the front occupants.
